In addition, we have an experienced in-house Engineering Department to handle BIM requirements and provide design-build services.
We are proud to be a part of the Branch family of companies, which also includes Branch Civil and Branch Builds.
Employee Ownership
As a 100% employee-owned company, every member of our team has an economic stake (shares) in our company through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
This means they are beneficial owners of our company at no cost, with equity in the company and retirement benefits.
Long story short: When our company succeeds, our employee owners benefit.
ESOP vs. 401(k)
There are two key differences between ESOPs and 401(k) plans. First, an ESOP invests primarily in an employer’s stock, while a 401(k) plan generally offers various mutual funds in which employees may invest funds. Second, 401(k) plans permit employees to contribute their own money to the plan, while ESOP contributions generally come solely from the company – making them completely free to employees.

Hopkins | Lacy provided the plumbing and HVAC systems during the recent construction of the 326,000sf, Pepsi Bottling Plant in Wythewille, VA. This project was a fast-tracked project that involved an aggressive schedule and required extensive coordination of the details in a timely manner to stay ahead of construction. activities. GJ Hopkins proactively worked with the design team and Pepsi to protect the schedule and to maintain the highest quality standards obtainable. Due to the advancement in technology of the process equipment many changes were necessary during construction in order to accommodate the new equipment design and the changes were handled in an expeditious manner. It was your firm’s dedication and attention to the plumbing and mechanical scope that helped to ensure a successful project for Pepsi.
We are grateful for our association with Hopkins | Lacy on this project and we highly recommend your firm for any future work.

I am writing this letter to you to inform you of certain observations I have made concerning the work of the personnel assigned to the Roanoke Higher Education Center project. The quality of the work installed by your men has been outstanding, particularly given the extremely tight building constraints and compressed schedule of this project. The men in the field have worked like true craftsmen under difficult circumstances and the results of their work have not been lost on those who have toured the project.
My compliments extend particularly to Martin Shrewsbury who rises successfully to the challenges presented by both the engineering design and the existing building. Kelly Hubert has also shown himself to be a flexible team player who is to be commended for his communication and coordination abilities. While there have been change orders and additional costs to the owner, most of these have been due to changes made by the owner and the constraints of the existing building and the amounts requested to date have been reasonable.
Although the project is far from complete, I thought I should take this opportunity to convey to you that it is a pleasure for our firm to work with the men assigned to this project.
